The Golden Circle – Iceland’s Ultimate Road Adventure

Iceland’s Golden Circle is a 300 km loop near Reykjavík that showcases the island’s dramatic geology.  The route encompasses three iconic sights: Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park, the Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir geothermal area .  Þingvellir is Iceland’s first national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site .  It sits between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates – one of the few places where you can walk along the Mid‑Atlantic Ridge.  Gullfoss, the “Golden Falls,” sends glacial water thundering down two tiers, while nearby Geysir (from which the English word geyser derives) erupts columns of hot water and steam.

Driving the Golden Circle with Kraze Travel allows you to customise stops and explore at your own pace.  In winter you might pair the route with ice‑caving or Northern Lights hunts; in summer you can hike to hidden hot springs.  We recommend early departures to avoid tour buses and provide picnic lunches from local farms.  For added adventure, detour to the Secret Lagoon or Kerið volcanic crater.

Why go?  To witness Iceland’s volcanic power and natural beauty in a single day.  The Golden Circle is accessible yet packed with wonder, making it ideal for active travellers seeking a taste of Icelandic adventure without backcountry trekking.
