A taste of ‘The pearl in the Indian Ocean’.  During this trip, we will get to experience the amazing nature that Sri Lanka has to offer; including safari rides in National Parks to see the wild life, and the Elephant Orphanage – a place where wild animals are treated for injuries sustained whilst out in the wild.

We will also get to trek the internationally renowned treks within Sri Lanka, most notably Dambulla Pidurangala and Sigiriya Rock Fortress, and Little Adam’s Peak.

Day 1
Welcome to Sri Lanka


Arrive in Negombo, transfer from the airport, and unwind after your flight. Optional city tour of Colombo. Dinner at the hotel. (Accommodation: Goldi Sands 4*)

Day 2
Pinnalawa Elephant Orphanage


Drive to Dambulla with a stop at Pinnalawa to see rescued Asian elephants. Optional visit to Dambulla Cave Temple. (Accommodation: Tropical Life 4*)

Day 3
Explore the Cultural Area


Optional sunrise trek up Pidurangala Rock. Visit a local school, enjoy a farmer’s lunch, then climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress. (Accommodation: Tropical Life 4*)

Day 4
Knuckles Range Trek


Trek in Riverstone’s Knuckles Mountain Range, exploring the Pitawalapatana Grassland. Overnight in Mahiyangana. (Accommodation: Mapakada Village 4*)

Day 5
Veddha Community & Ratna Ella Falls


Meet the indigenous Veddha tribe, then travel by tuk tuk and on foot to Ratna Ella waterfalls for swimming and lunch. (Accommodation: Mapakada Village 4*)

Day 6
Nuwara Eliya


Travel to "Little England" with a stop at Randenigala Dam. Visit a tea plantation, try tea picking, and sample fresh Ceylon tea. Free time by the lake. (Accommodation: Galway Heights 4*)

Day 7
Ella Free Day


Ride the world-famous train from Nanu Oya to Ella, then trek Little Adams Peak. Optional zip lining. (Accommodation: Mountain Heavens 4*)

Day 8
Ella to Yala


Morning visit to Nine Arches Bridge, stop at Ravana Falls, and transfer to Yala. Dinner at the hotel. (Accommodation: EKHO Safari)

Day 9
Yala National Park


Full-day Jeep safari spotting leopards, elephants, buffalo, and more, with lunch inside the park. (Accommodation: EKHO Safari)

Day 10
Raw Sri Lankan Coast


Visit Unawatuna beach, try the palm swing, see stilt fishermen, and stay overnight in Mirissa. (Accommodation: Mandara Resort 4*)

Day 11
Mirissa Free Day


Optional early whale watching. Spend the day relaxing, surfing, or enjoying the beach. (Accommodation: Mandara Resort 4*)

Day 12
Journey to the Maldives or Return Home


Visit Galle Fort and Madu River before heading to the airport for your flight home or onward to the Maldives.

Day 13
Welcome to the Maldives


Arrive at your beachfront hotel. Optional scuba diving, kayaking, or snorkeling three reefs. Dinner included. (Accommodation: Kaani Grand Sea View)

Day 14
Explore the Maldives


Free day or optional activities such as visiting an all-inclusive island, swimming with whale sharks, manta rays, nurse sharks, or shipwreck snorkeling. Dinner included.

Do I need a visa for Sri Lanka and the Maldives?

Yes. Most nationalities require an ETA for Sri Lanka (online application) and a tourist visa for the Maldives (usually free on arrival for 30 days for many countries, but check before traveling).

What’s the group size?

A maximum of 19 travelers, accompanied by a Maltese Trip Manager and local guides.

How physically demanding is this trip?

Moderate. Includes treks, stair climbs (e.g., Sigiriya Rock), and optional adventure activities. Good mobility and basic fitness recommended.

Are flights included?

Yes. International flights from Malta (via Emirates) and internal transfers are included.

Are meals included?

Most breakfasts and several dinners are included. Some lunches/dinners are at your own expense to allow flexibility.

What’s the accommodation standard?

Comfortable 4-star hotels or similar, with twin room sharing.

Are optional activities worth it?

Yes! Whale watching, zip lining in Ella, and scuba/snorkeling in the Maldives are popular highlights.

How should I pack?

Light clothing for warm weather, modest attire for temples, swimwear, trekking shoes, and a light rain jacket.

What’s the best time to join this trip?

This itinerary is designed for January–February to align with good weather in both Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Is travel insurance required?

Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance covering medical, cancellation, and adventure activities is mandatory.
